Friday crafty catch-up April 6, 2007
I haven’t had time to write for a few days — things have been so crazy! — but wanted to post about a couple of cool things to end the week in style.
First, CRAFT magazine and Stitch ‘n Pitch are sponsoring a new contest to design your own
baseball-inspired needlework!
From their site: Your entry must be of an original design in the needlearts areas of knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint, or embroidery and must center on the theme of baseball. You can interpret any aspect of baseball you’d like. Be creative here! Each needleart is a specific category you can enter, along with our extra category of Baseball Team Theme Design, where we encourage you to show your love for your favorite participating baseball team in the Stitch N’ Pitch lineup! All the info is here and the deadline is May 31.
I went to the SnP Dodgers game last year, which was so much fun! You can see the whole schedule of 2007 games here.
And I was so excited to see that Faythe Levine has posted an eight-minute sneak peek at her Handmade Nation film (formerly known as the Indie Craft Documentary) here on YouTube. There’s a little segment of me talking about how amazingly cool craft fairs have become — along with interviews with India Romeo, Jill Bliss, Knitta Please (in action!!), Jennifer Perkins, and dozens of other indie crafters. The full-length version will premiere in March 2008 — I can’t wait to see it! Congratulations, Faythe — it looks incredible!
