our first garden June 16, 2008
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever gone two weeks without posting before! Things have been really busy with Pearl, freelance work, and planning our first with-baby trip to LA this upcoming weekend. So here’s a quick almost-summer post about something fun we’ve been doing lately — our first-ever garden!
Andrew and I planted Spanish lavender, pineapple mint, lemon basil, regular mint, thyme, rosemary, tomatoes, zucchini, hot peppers, and bell peppers a couple of weeks ago. Most of our actual yard is cement (clothesline and patio-style) but we’re hoping to reclaim more of it soon… so for now we have a skinny little patch beside the garage going, with big dreams of expanding it sometime. I am not known for my green thumb or gardening experience — moving every year and a half or so is not very encouraging for this type of thing — so we have our fingers crossed that it will hang in there. Pearl and I check on it and water it every day, and so far so good.
I’m so excited about our trip this weekend — hoping to get a chance to do some of my favorite Los Angeles things while we’re there, and I’m really looking forward to introducing Pearl to some crafty aunties, too!
