crafty congratulations! March 10, 2009
Yay, I get to brag on my friends today!
First, I wanted to mention that Cathy Callahan (aka Cathy of California) is going to be on the Martha Stewart Show tomorrow!! This picture is from Renegade Brooklyn (summer 2006) when we visited Erika Kern‘s booth and admired her absolutely incredible embroidered Martha portrait. (I’m happy to say that the portrait has found a loving home with Jenny since then, too!) Cathy and Martha will be making these beautiful ribbon-straw flowers with vintage looms. I’m so excited to see the show!
And best of all, the episode celebrates the 50th anniversary of Lilly Pulitzer’s line with a look at her patterns and designs from the early days until her spring collection!
I adore vintage Lilly and I treasure my skirts, dresses, and handbags… and the lovely baby quilt Pam and Marie made for Pearl. The entire audience, including my friends Kayte and Meredith, will be wearing Lilly. Awesome.
Speaking of colorful craftiness, I also wanted to mention that I just wrote up a review of Kathy Cano Murillo’s new book, The Crafty Chica’s Guide to Artful Sewing, and they’re doing a giveaway over at CraftStylish.
Here I am with Natalie and Kathy at CHA in 2007 (I think it was 2007, anyway… some of that era is kind of a blur) celebrating her new line of Crafty Chica products with Duncan. And now she has a new book out, and a novel on the way! Congratulations, Kathy!
